She helped to create the surgical suite at the Stockton City/County Animal Shelter; and volunteered doing surgery on feral cats and small dogs every other Sunday for 6 years. She mentored several classes of Carrington Veterinary Technician Students that participated in the surgery clinics. She established a free vaccine clinic for the pets of the Homeless that ran monthly for 3 years at several locations throughout San Joaquin. She provided free vaccine clinics at the county point in time homeless counts; and was also the onsite veterinarian for several law enforcement K-9 unit trials. She helped establish the Delta Veterinary Medical Association and was Vice President for 2 years. She was the president of the local dog park association and created fundraising events that celebrated pet ownership. And she also participated in many community outreach vocational events at schools and other venues.
Dr. Damron also took part in a variety of other community activities. She had a radio/video show Tails and Tips for 3 years 1-2x a week that started out focusing on animal issues and local animal organizations; but transitioned to highlighting non profits throughout San Joaquin county. She has served on multiple boards and just prior to Covid was on 6 including the Stockton San Joaquin Emergency Food Bank, San Joaquin United Way, Micke Grove Zoological Society, and Pixie Woods. She is a past President of the Stockton Hosts Lion’s, and was the Secretary for the Rotary Club of Lodi; and graduated from both Leadership Stockton and Leadership Lodi. She rappelled down a 12 story building in downtown Stockton to fundraise for Hospice; and was a member of Junior League, and 5 local chambers. She was a member the Auxillary for Karl Ross post 16 and was able to help construct the traveling Vietnam Wall 2x; and has chaired several nonprofit fundraisers including the Inaugural Patriot’s Ball; and was an ambassador for Toys 4 Tots. She also ran for Board of Supervisors in San Joaquin and obtained 40% of the votes against a very strong incumbent with a grass roots campaign. Dr. Damron has been given The San Joaquin Wonder Woman Award, Stockton’s Hero Award, a Community Hero Award, various Mayoral Commendations, and other community service recognitions. Currently she serves on the board for Northern California Weimaraner Rescue.
Since Covid Dr. Damron has mainly dedicated her time to working as many overnight emergency shifts as possible. At the height of the pandemic, she was working almost every night. The need for veterinary care grew exponentially through expanded pet ownership, and an increase in owners being home more with their pets. She continuously strives to expand her medical knowledge and skills, with a goal of providing the best possible outcome for your cherished companions. When she is not working, she and her husband enjoy going to beaches, hiking, museums, zoos, and the gym. She has a blue Weimaraner named Indigo, and a cute cat named Felicity. She celebrates the longevity and vitality of your pets.
